Houston Astros relief pitcher Hector Rondon pitched a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to preserve a one-run lead, earning the save over the Texas Rangers.
Manager A.J. Hinch didn't really clarify the closer situation after the game, saying he expects both Rondon and closer Ken Giles -- and possibly others -- to get more save chances before the year is over.
As of now, our models project Rondon to earn a 3.49 ERA and 1.22 WHIP while tossing 36 1/3 more innings pitched this season. We project him for a 28.5 percent strikeout rate and 7.3 percent walk rate and just 1 save.
