Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta wasn't at his best Monday but still picked up a victory, yielding four runs over 5 2/3 frames in an 8-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3.
Arrieta struck out nine on the day, but his command wasn't what we've come accustomed to during his ridiculous streak. He served up a couple doubles and a home run while walking two and hitting a batter.
It's the first time Arrieta has allowed four or more runs in a start since June 16, a stretch covering 21 straight quality starts. He gave up 1 or 0 runs in 17 of those outings. Arrieta is in line to pitch Game 1 of the next round should the Cubs finish off the Cards.
