Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jake Arrieta (hamstring) could undergo an MRI on Tuesday depending on how he feels when he reports to the ballpark.
Arrieta was forced from his start on Monday in the third inning and the injury appeared to be a hamstring pull. There is a chance he was just cramping, but if he doesn't feel better on Tuesday, he'll head for an MRI. Right now the Cubs will play it extra-cautious with their starter.
Arrieta currently has a 3.48 ERA and 4.04 xFIP over 160 1/3 innings pitched this season. He owns a 23.4 strikeout rate, which is slightly higher than his 22.4 career average.
