The Tampa Bay Rays are acquiring first baseman Lucas Duda from the New York Mets in exchange for minor league pitcher Drew Smith, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
The Rays get the left-handed power bat they have been looking for since Colby Rasmus went down with an injury. He will likely move into the everyday DH role for Tampa Bay as the Mets free open space for T.J. Rivera and Wilmer Flores to play more in the infield.
Duda is hitting just .246 in 291 plate appearances this season but owns a .368 wOBA and has slugged 17 home runs.
