Tampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos had to leave Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after he was struck in the head by a shattered bat.
Ramos required six staples to close the laceration on his head. It was a scary scene, but he passed concussion tests and the cut appears to be relatively minor. The 29-year-old backstop will sit out Tuesday, but he expects to return to the Rays' lineup by Wednesday.
After a late start to the year, Ramos is slashing .214/.250/.411 with 3 home runs and 11 RBI in 61 plate appearances (16 games). numberFire's models project him to record a .261 batting average with 2 taters and 7 RBI in 75 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
