Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (finger) is not starting on Friday versus the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bryant took a cleat to his pinkie on Wednesday, and while X-rays came back negative, he's still dealing with some soreness. Javier Baez is filling in at third base on Friday for the Cubs.
Bryant is slashing .275/.401/.528 with 19 taters, 40 RBI, 61 runs scored, and 7 steals in 389 plate appearances (88 games) this season. numberFire's models project him to record a .285 batting average with 7 homers, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, and 2 steals in 145 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
