Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Jeff Mathis is starting and batting eighth against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
Mathis takes over behind the plate for Chris Iannetta, as the two – along with Chris Herrmann – rotate nearly every day.
Despite a favorable park factor at Philly (1.031), the Diamondbacks' batters have one of the least exciting implied totals (4.03 runs; fourth-lowest) on the Friday slate. Opposing starter Aaron Nola strikes hitters out at a solid 21.9 percent rate and tends to keep the ball down (.899 ground-to-fly ball ratio).
