St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jhonny Peralta is replacing Jedd Gyorko at third base on Friday against the Chicago Cubs.
Peralta will bat fifth versus Cubs right-hander John Lackey. He missed over a month of action between April and May due to an upper respiratory infection and an allergic reaction to medication. Gyorko will be available off the bench.
The 35-year-old veteran has gone 9-for-45 (.200) in 18 games this season with four walks and 12 strikeouts.
