Cincinnati Reds utility man Skip Schumaker will bat leadoff and play left field for the team Monday as they face the Detroit Tigers.
It has been a bit of a revolving door in the leadoff spot for the Reds with both Jason Bourgeois and Brandon Phillips hitting there over the weekend. Phillips will slide back to the clean-up spot with Bourgeois batting eighth.
Schumaker and Bourgeois don't exactly fit the model of ideal leadoff men as they have on-base percentages of .287 and .277 this year. Schumaker and the Reds do, though, have a plus matchup today against Detroit's Buck Farmer, who has a 5.12 xFIP in 24 2/3 Major League innings this year. This helps Schumaker check in as the second best value among second baseman on FanDuel today with his minimum price tag.
