San Diego Padres pitching prospect Dinelson Lamet will be called up to start Thursday against the New York Mets, manager Andy Green has confirmed.
The 24-year-old right-hander needs to work a little on his command (12.0 percent walk in the minors this season), but Lamet offers all sorts of long-term fantasy upside if things go well in Thursday's debut.
Lamet has looked good in eight starts for Triple-A El Paso in 2017, with a 3.23 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 29.9 percent strikeout rate through 39 innings pitched.
