New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz (elbow) is slated to make two more rehab starts.
Matz surrendered two hits and one run over three innings last Thursday in his first rehab start for High-A St. Lucie. He threw 53 pitches in the outing, so the left-hander obviously needs to be stretched out a bit more. Working his way back from a flexor strain, Matz could rejoin the Mets' rotation by the first weekend of June.
numberFire's models currently expect Matz to twirl a 4.07 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 18.8 strikeout percentage in just 73 innings this season.
