Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward took part in batting practice on Tuesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list.
Heyward has been out of action since May 6 with a sprained finger but is expected to be activated before the weekend without going on a rehab assignment, as long he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
Heyward was batting .253/.333/.364 with three home runs and 17 RBI's in 111 plate appearances before the injury.
