New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Port St. Lucie on Thursday.
Seth Lugo (elbow) will also pitch for St. Lucie in the same game. The two hurlers are on a similar timetable, with the Mets hoping they'll be an option by early June. Matz threw about 30 pitches in an extended spring training game over the weekend, so he should be good for 45-50 on Thursday.
