Athletics take Sonny Gray off disabled list, will make first start Tuesday

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sonny Gray has been activated from the 10-day disabled list.

What It Means:

Gray will make his season debut on Tuesday for a road date against the Minnesota Twins. He went 2-0 between High-A Stockton and Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre while twirling 11 scoreless innings with 13 strikeouts (35.1 percent) and zero walks.

The 27-year-old right-hander struggled in the majors in 2016, posting career-worsts in ERA (5.69), xFIP (4.13), WHIP (1.50) and punchout rate (18.2 percent). Gray finished with a 5-11 record across 22 starts (117 innings).
