San Fransisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner will not require surgery on his injured left shoulder.
Bumgarner received the word after an evaluation by Dr. Kenneth Akizuki. The 27-year-old southpaw is still hoping to start rehab activities within the next four-to-five days but is expected to be at least eight weeks away from throwing from a mound. Bumgarner will likely be out until close to the All-Star Break.
Bumgarner was off to a rough start this season with a 0-3 record, 3.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 25.0 strikeout percentage in 27 innings (four starts).
