Texas Rangers outfielder Will Venable is starting in left field and batting eighth Thursday in his Rangers debut against the Detroit Tigers.
Venable is batting .258/.318/.378 with a .314 wOBA on the season as he arrives in Texas. However, it appears the Rangers shouldn't expect production like that as our algorithm has Venable hitting .224/.294/.347 with a .281 wOBA for the remainder of the season.
Tonight he'll face Tigers starter Alfredo Simon who is getting crushed by lefties, giving up a .383 wOBA while producing a 4.61 xFIP. Venable has a solid .318 wOBA versus righties but his opportunities will be limited in the eight hole.
