Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sonny Gray (lat) will throw a three-inning simulated game Monday in Arizona.
Gray is scheduled to throw 45 pitches or three innings, whichever comes first. If all goes well, he will be sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment with a target date of late-April for a return to the big league rotation. Gray has been recovering from a strained lat muscle he suffered early in spring training.
numberFire's algorithms had projected Gray for a 9-11 record with a 4.07 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 143 strikeouts in 181 1/3 innings pitched before he suffered the injury.
