Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale notched 10 strikeouts while yielding just two runs over 7 2/3 innings versus the Detroit Tigers but was saddled with a loss Monday.
Sale was cruising through seven innings, allowing just a solo home run to Ian Kinsler. He hit a bit of trouble in the eight but still allowed just five hits and two runs in 7 2/3. However, the Boston offense did not back him up at all by scoring just one run all game. Sale will look to get his first win in a Red Sox uniform this weekend versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
Sale owns a 1.23 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings this season but is 0-1.
