Boston Red Sox infielder Xander Bogaerts has been placed on the bereavement list.
Bogaerts is expected to rejoin the team on Monday. Brock Holt is going to benefit the most but recently recalled Marco Hernandez could also see some time at shortstop.
Bogaerts is 2-for-9 in two games this season with a pair of steals and a pair of punchouts.
