The Tampa Bay Rays signed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) to a one-year, $2 million contract with a club option for 2018.
Eovaldi will miss the entire 2017 season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, but the Rays are hoping it'll be worth the wait for the 27-year-old right-hander.
Eovaldi's 2016 campaign was cut short due to the injury, and he finished with a 4.76 ERA, a 4.21 xFIP and a career high 18.5 strikeout percentage across 124 2/3 innings pitched.
