San Francisco starting pitcher Johnny Cueto came through clutch in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Colorado Rockies, striking out 11 while allowing two runs over seven innings.
Cueto was tagged for nine hits on Thursday, but he didn't let it show on the scoreboard. The two runs came in the first inning via a RBI double and RBI triple. The 30-year-old right-hander held opponents to two runs or less in seven of his final 10 starts.
In his first year with the Giants, Cueto has pitched to a 2.79 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 22.5 strikeout percentage over 219 2/3 innings.
