Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed four runs (three earned) against the Kansas Royals on Friday on the way to his sixth complete game of the season.
Sale had a perfect game going through four innings before the Royals put up two runs on the southpaw in the fifth and sixth innings. Sale walked only one during his nine innings of work on Friday and while he may not be the favorite, he is still in contention for the AL Cy Young.
Sale owns a 3.03 ERA and a 3.58 xFIP in 2016 over 210 2/3 innings pitched. His SIERA is a career-worst 3.47, but he still ranks eighth among qualified pitchers in that category this season.
