St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jhonny Peralta is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs.
The return of Aledmys Diaz will likely continue to cut into Peralta's playing time, although he doesn't provide much fantasy value to begin with. Diaz is at shortstop and Jedd Gyorko is starting at third for St. Louis. They are batting sixth and second, respectively, versus Cubs left-hander Jon Lester.
Through 254 plate appearances this season, Peralta owns a .243/.287/.396 slash with a .293 wOBA and .153 ISO. All of those marks are below what he's averaged for his career.
