Kansas City Royals pitcher Danny Duffy threw a complete game on Thursday, allowing only one run as the Royals topped the Chicago White Sox 2-1.
This was the first complete game of the season for Duffy, who joined the Royals' rotation in May after starting the season in the bullpen. He threw 98 pitches in what was his 17th start of the year, improving to 9-1 this season. Next up is a date with the Detroit Tigers.
Duffy is sporting career-bests in ERA (2.82), SIERA (3.17) and strikeout rate (28.11 percent) through 124 1/3 innings pitched this season.
