Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Tropeano (elbow) will receive Tommy John surgery.
Tropeano has been dealing with a UCL tear in his right elbow, and he opted for Tommy John after receiving a second opinion from Dr. David Altchek last week. The earliest potential return for the 25-year-old righty will likely be this time next summer.
Tropeano currently ranks 154th in the majors with a 1.27 nERD. He's sporting a 4.48 SIERA and 22.97 percent strikeout rate through 68 1/3 innings, with both of those numbers representing a decline from his 2015 production. However, his 3.56 ERA is a career-best.
