The Kansas City Royals are looking to package pitchers Ian Kennedy and Wade Davis in a trade, with the Los Angeles Dodgers appearing to be "a strong match," reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
As previously reported by Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Dodgers long for Davis in their bullpen, and would be willing to take on Kennedy's five-year, $70 million contract in order to acquire the services of the 30-year-old reliever. Kennedy has underwhelmed during his first season in Kansas City, recording a 4.41 ERA across 114 1/3 innings of work (20 starts).
Among the 157 relievers with at least 30 major league innings pitched this season, Davis ranks 13th with a 1.60 ERA (33 2/3 innings). However, he owns a 23.70 strikeout percentage this season, a significant dip from the 35.28 percent rate that he averaged the previous two seasons.
