Kyle Farmer on second base Thursday for Twins in opener

Minnesota Twins infielder Kyle Farmer is starting on second base and batting seventh against left-hander Cole Ragans and the Kansas City Royals on Opening Day.

What It Means:

Farmer and Edouard Julien are expected to platoon on second base this season, with the right-handed hitting Farmer starting against southpaws. Alex Kirilloff and Matt Wallner are also out of the lineup on Thursday. Manuel Margot is starting at designated hitter and batting ninth for the Twins.

Farmer is numberFire’s fourth-best point-per-dollar value on the Main slate for Opening Day. He has a $2,200 salary and our models project him for 11.0 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Twins have the fourth-highest implied total (4.45) out of 20 teams on the Main slate.
