Baltimore Orioles pitcher Darren O'Day (hamstring) could be activated this week, manager Buck Showalter said on Monday.
O'Day could potentially be activated following a scheduled simulation throwing on Tuesday. The 33-year-old vet will return to a prominent relief role with the Orioles when he's deemed ready. He has been sidelined since the start of June with a hamstring strain.
O'Day has a 3.77 xFIP with an impressive 28.74 strikeout percentage in 20 innings pitched this season. Our models currently project him to record a 4.00 ERA and a 25.30 strikeout percentage across 18 more innings of work over the remaining course of the year.
