Chicago Cubs pitcher Adam Warren is expected to join the rotation as a spot starter Tuesday or Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds.
This move is provoked by manager Joe Maddon's desire to give each of his starters an additional day of rest prior to the All-Star break. Warren is starting Thursday night in Triple-A Iowa after being sent down to the minors last week.
Warren owns a 4.56 ERA and 16.22 strikeout percentage in 25 2/3 innings of relief for the Cubs this season.
