Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell does not know when pitcher Joe Kelly (groin) will be able to resume throwing off the mound.
Right now, Kelly is throwing off of flat ground. According to Farrell, he will continue to do that until he can throw from 180 feet. The 27-year-old right-hander injured his groin in a start at Triple-A Pawtucket on June 8, one week after the Red Sox sent him to the minors.
In six starts with the Red Sox this year, Kelly pitched an 8.46 ERA, 5.00 SIERA, and 2.00 WHIP.
