The Los Angeles Dodgers released infielder/outfielder Alex Guerrero.
No huge surprise here. The Dodgers placed Guerrero on waivers at the end of May, and he passed through unclaimed. He signed a $28 million deal coming over from Cuba in 2013. Prior to Wednesday's release, the 29-year-old had not seen a plate appearance with the Dodgers this season.
Guerrero holds an uninspiring .224/.251/.414 triple-slash in 219 major league at-bats. He'll probably latch on somewhere else, but he hasn't done anything to indicate he can be a productive big leaguer.
