Mets' Max Scherzer out 6-8 weeks with oblique strain

New York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a "moderate to high-grade" oblique strain.

What It Means:

Scherzer pulled himself from his start Wednesday due to what was described as "left side discomfort." The 37-year-old right-hander will join a Mets injured list that already includes fellow starters Jacob deGrom (shoulder) and Tylor Megill (biceps). Trevor Williams and David Peterson figure to benefit from Scherzer's absence.

Scherzer is averaging 41.8 FanDuel points per game this season while recording a 2.88 xERA with a hard hit rate that ranks in the top 94th percentile.
