The Chicago White Sox have designated Yonder Alonso for assignment, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Alonso has been pretty terrible at the plate this season, so it looks like his stint with the White Sox will be short-lived. Struggles aside, the 32-year-old veteran figures to get an opportunity elsewhere.
Alonso owns a .178/.275/.301 batting line with 7 homers, 27 RBI, and 23 runs scored in 251 plate appearances (67 games).
