Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce, as well, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Gerrit Cole, SP, New York Yankees ($10,800)

I'm gonna need someone a lot smarter than me to wax poetically on why Gerrit Cole shouldn't be an auto roster when he's on the slate.

Cole hasn't been just a very good pitcher this year -- he's been out of this world. Spanning 10 starts and 57 2/3 innings pitched, the right-hander has a 2.83 FIP, 30.8% strikeout rate and 42.5% ground-ball rate. Cole has been really tough to square up, too -- allowing only 0.94 HR/9 this year.

Cole squares off against the Detroit Tigers, and they've been downright pathetic at the dish this season. They rank among the league's worst offenses in terms of wOBA (.274), ISO (.103), and strikeout rate (23.8%).

Per our model, Cole is one of two hurlers projected to top 40 FanDuel points -- Corbin Burnes ($10,500) is the other -- and the Yanks' ace gets the nod for me.

Randy Arozarena, OF, Tampa Bay Rays ($3,200)

The Tampa Bay Rays face off against retread Vince Velasquez, who seems like he's been pitching for a multitude of different teams around the MLB.

This season has been no better than previous campaigns for the veteran right-hander. He's allowed some pretty egregious marks this season to same-sided bats, including a .582 slugging percentage and a whopping 2.79 HR/9.

While Randy Arozarena has struggled with power against southpaws (.049 ISO), he's been far better against righties this season, logging a .180 ISO and 119 wRC+ in the split.

All of this makes Arozarena a great play, and his salary is easy to like.

Matt Olson, 1B, Atlanta Braves ($4,000)

With an implied team total of more than 6.0 runs (6.16 runs, to be exact), the Atlanta Braves are sure to be a chalk stack, but they're a terrifying fade.

On Atlanta, there's no one who we need to consider more than Matt Olson.

The reason we want to be bullish and heavy on Olson tonight -- other than the fact he's at Coors -- is that he squares up with Chad Kuhl. This season, the veteran right-hander has really struggled with lefty bats, allowing them to pop him for a .458 slugging percentage and 39.8% fly-ball rate.

Olson, meanwhile, has held a significant advantage against righty arms this year, posting a 148 wRC+ and .894 OPS with the platoon advantage.

If you have the salary, Olson is a fantastic play, and he has as high of a ceiling as anyone on the slate.
