3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on Tuesday 9/7/21

Just like in other sports, the focal point of your daily fantasy baseball lineups will be your high-salary studs. These guys take up by far the biggest chunk of your cap space, but they also offer the highest ceiling. And in the case of pitchers, the high-salary options typically come with the highest floors, too.

For hitters, we're looking for guys with big numbers, strong matchups, and with players around them that are likely to produce well, too, increasing our chances for runs and RBI. For pitchers, we want big strikeout numbers, while the ability to go deep in a game and pick up a win is also valuable.

With your high-salary picks playing such a big role in your lineup, you need to be right on these guys, so let's take a look at a few top-end options you can count on to anchor your lineup today.

Blake Snell, P, San Diego Padres ($10,100)

The main slate on Tuesday is quite interesting. We normally have a big-time set of arms on Tuesdays, but today, we only have two pitchers listed at salaries of more than $10,000.

The one who will likely get rostered the most -- Gerrit Cole ($11,300) -- has been incredible as of late, but he faces what is arguably the league's best offense this season in the Toronto Blue Jays. That's a hard pass for me.

Blake Snell is blessed with a far better matchup. Let's dive in.

The Los Angeles Angels have been woefully bad at the plate this season, and they've really struggled over the last month. They own a .285 wOBA in the split, including a 24.9% strikeout rate, which ranks fifth-worst in the league.

For the season, Snell sports a 4.31 SIERA, 30.3% strikeout rate and 12.7% swinging-strike rate. After a rough start to the campaign, he's been on fire of late, racking up a 38.8% strikeout rate in August. He's gone at least seven innings in two straight starts.

Snell's swing-and-miss ability gives him tantalizing upside every time out. Add in the great matchup, and Snell is a guy I'll have a lot of tonight. He's our number-one arm, projected for 37.3 FanDuel points.

Salvador Perez, C, Kansas City Royals ($3,900)

Has any catcher been better than Salvador Perez this season?

Now up to 41 home runs and 103 RBI, Perez has been absolutely brilliant at the plate, and he can add to those impressive totals tonight. He faces southpaw Alexander Wells of the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Wells has been shuttled between the bullpen and starting rotation. Overall, he has allowed 1.47 homers per nine this season.

Against lefties, Perez has been otherworldly, posting a .423 wOBA, 44.0% hard-hit rate and 43.1% fly-ball rate. He's popped 17 jacks in just 157 plate appearances in the split.

Perez can smash in this spot, and the Kansas City Royals' 5.01 implied total puts them on the stacking radar.

Austin Riley, 3B, Atlanta Braves ($3,700)

The Atlanta Braves carry a 5.34 implied total -- the second-highest as of early Tuesday -- for their clash with Paolo Espino of the Washington Nationals.

Espino has done a decent job on the mound, but his bugaboo is same-sided right-handed batters. On the season, Espino has allowed a whopping 2.43 homers per nine to righties across 170 batters faced.

Atlanta's home digs clock in ninth in park factor, and with Austin Riley's mega pop (.538 slugging percentage) at the plate, he makes for great addition to Braves stacks.
