Cincinnati Reds vs Milwaukee Brewers

Cincinnati Reds +1.5 (-140): 1 Star out of 5

The Milwaukee Brewers are in first place thanks in large part to their elite starting pitching staff. The Brewers should have an advantage in that regard again today, as Brandon Woodruff, and his 3.12 xERA take the mound against Luis Castillo (3.83 xERA).

The Brewers may have the advantage on the mound, but the Cincinnati Reds have been a magnificent offensive team. They are scoring 5.05 runs per game, which is the second-highest in the National League and fourth-highest in all of baseball. The Brewers are not quite as potent offensively, averaging 4.69 runs per contest.

Our model likes the Reds to cover the runline of 1.5 and we give them a 59.17% chance to do so.

San Francisco Giants vs New York Mets

San Francisco Giants to win (-104): 1 Star out of 5

The San Francisco Giants have the best record in baseball and they have beaten the New York Mets in three out of four games so far this season. The Mets have spiraled out of the playoff race after dropping nine of their last 11 games but can they rebound tonight?

There is really no reason to think the Mets will win this game, as they start Taijuan Walker, who has a 7.49 ERA in seven starts since the All-Star break. The Mets have lost all but one of these starts and they have been anemic offensively all season long, averaging 3.72 runs per game, which ranks 29th in MLB.

Our model gives the Giants a 53.09% chance to win outright but the recent trends suggest they could have an even greater chance to win than our model is indicating.

Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Indians

Over 9.0 Runs (-104): 1 Star out of 5

Cleveland Indians should be looking forward to facing Texas Rangers' starter, Jake Latz, as he has struggled in the minor leagues this season, posting a 4.98 ERA in 15 starts between AA and AAA. Latz has been even less effective as he moves up the minor league food chain, going giving up 10 runs (7 earned) and 4 home runs in 9.0 Triple-A innings.

Cleveland starts Zach Plesac, who has an xERA of 4.47, so Texas should be able to score a few runs themselves, in addition to a possible offensive outburst from Cleveland against the inexperienced Latz. Our model gives a 48.42% chance for the over and a 10.91% chance for a push, making the over a worthwhile betting opportunity.
