3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 9/19/19
Kyle Hendricks doesn't have nearly the same strikeout rate as the top pitchers on the slate. Does that mean we need to avoid him despite his cheaper salary?

While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to narrow down your shortlist of plays and avoid the suboptimal ones who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.

Kyle Hendricks, P, Chicago Cubs

FanDuel Price: $8,800

On a full slate, Kyle Hendricks might not be an avoid. However, with only four games on the main slate, Hendricks' lack of strikeout upside makes him the odd man out amongst the best pitchers. Hendricks only strikes out 20.4% of batters he faces, while Jack Flaherty and Mike Clevinger strikeout 29.5% and 35.3% respectively.

Leave Hendricks on the bench tonight in favor of one of the slate's elite pitchers.

Jorge Polanco, SS, Minnesota Twins

FanDuel Price: $3,300

Jorge Polanco will be taking on lefty Mike Montgomery and the Kansas City Royals tonight as the Minnesota Twins inch towards clinching the AL Central. Polanco has had a fantastic year hitting 22 home runs and accumulating 4.2 WAR but he has had struggles against lefties. His wRC+ is a mere 86 against southpaws compared to 139 against righties and he strikes out 5% more often.

Despite the thin slate, there are plenty of viable options at shortstop like Paul DeJong ($3,400)

Cavan Biggio, 2B, Toronto Blue Jays

FanDuel Price: $3,900

Cavan Biggio is just one of several young Toronto Blue Jays to make an impact this season, hitting 14 home runs in just 90 games while accumulating 2.1 WAR. Biggio's price seems to be inflated due to his cycle earlier in the week which is why he is an avoid tonight.

Biggio also strikes out at a 28.5% rate which limits his opportunities against a poor fielding Baltimore Orioles team. Consider starting Whit Merrifield ($3,300) against the Minnesota Twins.
