3 MLB FanDuel Studs to Target on 4/10/19
After the Twins shelled his teammate on Tuesday, is it worth paying up for another Mets pitcher in Noah Syndergaard?

Noah Syndergaard, P, New York Mets

Price: $10,100

The Minnesota Twins shelled the studly Jacob deGrom last night, but tonight it's worth going back to the well with the New York Mets' other ace in Noah Syndergaard.

The Twins' offense has been great to start the year, ranking fourth in wRC+ and striking out at a bottom-four rate. We're still dealing with a pretty small sample though, and some of the underlying numbers aren't as encouraging. Their 12.0% swinging-strike rate is the 10th-highest in the majors, and they rank only 19th in hard-hit rate while also posting the 13th-highest soft-hit rate. Those numbers indicate that we can expect some regression moving forward.

Even in what was a down year in 2018, Syndergaard notched a strong 3.55 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) with a 24.1% strikeout rate. His swinging-strike rate (13.6%) was in line with his career-average (13.4%). He's picked up where he left off through two starts this season, with a 13.9% swinging-strike rate and 3.09 SIERA.

The Mets are hefty -198 favorites on the moneyline, and the Twins have a weak 3.21 implied total -- both the most favorable marks for a pitcher as of Wednesday morning. It's no surprise that our models have Syndergaard projected as the slate's top pitcher.
