Fantasy Baseball: 5 Bargain Hitters to Target
Jed Lowrie is coming off a fantastic 2018 season, but he's being ignored in drafts so far. What other late-round bats should we target?

Garrett Hampson, 2B/OF, Colorado Rockies

NFBC ADP: 200th

Positional Rank: 16

Draft Round (12-team league): 17th

After inking a deal this offseason with the New York Yankees, long-time incumbent second baseman DJ LeMahieu is now out of the picture at the keystone for the Colorado Rockies. That opens up a lineup spot in one of the best hitters parks in baseball, and Garrett Hampson should be on your draft radar.

So, what's the deal on Hampson? The Long Beach State product has some major wheels -- in the minors, he stole 36 bases each in both 2016 and 2018, and in 2017, he nabbed 51 bags while scoring a whopping 113 runs.

He's not a one-trick pony, either -- he's showcased a keen batting eye, as evidenced in his cup of coffee last season in the majors with a 14.6% walk rate over 48 plate appearances. And that's not just small sample size fodder we should ignore -- Hampson has yet to post a walk rate under 9.0% in any stop, hitting above .300 at every minor league level.

The one downfall may be Hampson hitting down in the Colorado order, but for a guy with a pretty solid path to a lot of playing time, peep Hampson.
