3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 9/6/18
Even in a tough matchup, Daniel Descalso offers big value tonight. Which other budget hitters should you target on this small slate?

Phillip Ervin, OF, Cincinnati Reds

Price: $3,000

We have a tiny four-game slate tonight, and none of the teams in action have an implied total above 4.90 runs. This means that value can be hard to come by, but the Cincinnati Reds' offense is a good place to look.

Their matchup tonight is against San Diego Padres southpaw Eric Lauer, who has had a weak rookie campaign, notching a 4.80 SIERA over 19 games. He's also allowing 38.5% hard-hit rate and 33.6% fly-ball rate to right-handed bats, making this a strong spot for Phillip Ervin.

Ervin hasn't had a consistent season, but his small sample against southpaws has looked really good. Over 47 plate appearances, he has rocked lefties for a 42.4% hard-hit rate, which has translated to a .361 wOBA and .195 ISO.

Those bring his career averages to a .377 wOBA and 36.0% hard-hit rate against southpaws (over 77 plate appearances), and he offers plenty of upside against Lauer.
