3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 7/6/18
Mike Foltynewicz boasts a pristine ERA, but his underlying metrics suggest that his success is due to some good fortune. Which other players should you be avoiding on Friday?

Mike Foltynewicz, SP, Atlanta Braves

FanDuel Price: $8,800

Mike Foltynewicz has been a big part of the Atlanta Braves' quick turnaround. He has earned six victories on the season while pitching to the tune of a 2.02 ERA. However, a closer examination of his peripherals indicate he is more lucky than good.

Foltynewicz carries an elevated 11.0% walk rate. He is fairly average at forcing ground-balls (43.9%) and limiting hard-contact (32.4%) as well. Even his calling card, his strikeout potential, appears overrated as his 10.2% swinging-strike rate is below the league average mark of 10.7% this year. This all adds up to a 3.67 SIERA that shows how Foltynewicz has been lucky to put together such a low ERA.

Adding to the lack of appeal tonight, the Milwaukee Brewers are no slouch against right-handed pitching. They are top-10 in hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching with a 37.7% mark, and with regression headed toward Foltynewicz, he could get knocked around against a tough lineup in a tough park to pitch in.
