5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 5/21/18
Marcell Ozuna has had a slow start to 2018, but he offers plenty of upside against Ian Kennedy. Which other budget-friendly hitters should you target?

Brett Gardner, OF, New York Yankees

Price: $2,800

The New York Yankees draw a plus matchup against the Texas Rangers and right-hander Bartolo Colon, and the Yanks' 5.44 implied total is over half a run better than any other team's on Monday.

Colon's 3.85 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) to open 2018 is excellent, but he's also coming off a 2017 campaign that saw him post a career-worst 5.08 SIERA. Betting on the fact that the 44-year-old has found the fountain of youth is going to get you a lot longer odds than the fact that he's just on the right side of variance for now.

Brett Gardner has not had a productive start to 2018, though he's making some reasonable contact against right-handed pitchers, with a 31.2% hard-hit and 17.2% soft-hit rate.

He's sporting a .349 wOBA against righties over the last two seasons, and likely batting leadoff tonight, that's more than enough to create big value in such a good matchup.
