3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/18/18
Jose Berrios has been great to start the year, but he isn't worth the risk against the Indians. Who else is a fade on Wednesday in MLB DFS?

Jose Berrios, SP, Minnesota Twins

FanDuel Price: $9,800

Jose Berrios has been ridiculous to start the season, posting a 2.18 ERA that is perfectly justified given his 2.17 SIERA. However, his matchup against the Cleveland Indians is one that makes him an avoid for MLB DFS.

At first glance, the Indians may seem like a sneaky attractive matchup, given that they rank just 25th in wOBA in wRC+ against right-handed pitching to start the year. That may drive Berrios' ownership up due to the perceived easy matchup. But if we dig a little deeper, that easy matchup gets tough in a hurry.

Despite the low wOBA and wRC+ ranking, Cleveland ranks 5th in baseball in hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching. Meanwhile, they rank 28th in batting average on balls in play (BABIP) against right-handed pitchers. This large discrepancy indicates that Cleveland's poor offensive performance in a small sample is more a product of luck than skill.

It also doesn't help that by virtue of playing in Puerto Rico, Berrios will be playing in one of the warmest, most humid conditions on the slate. While Berrios enjoys high ownership, he remains a fade in this tough matchup.
