3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 4/9/18
Rhys Hoskins is expensive, but that could lead to lower-than-usual ownership despite a good matchup. Which other players may fly under the radar?

Justin Verlander, P, Houston Astros

FanDuel Price: $10,300

Justin Verlander isn't sneaking by anyone, per say, but with both Max Scherzer and Noah Syndergaard on the mound today, he will almost certainly have the lowest ownership of the trio.

And yet, Verlander has been fantastic thus far, posting a 2.97 SIERA, 29.2% strikeout rate, and 6.3% walk rate through two starts. It may be early, but those numbers are reminiscent of what he did down the stretch last year, when he put forth a 31.7% strikeout rate over the second half. The opposing Minnesota Twins can pack a punch, but they can also be had for punchouts, with an active roster that struck out 22.7% of the time against right-handed pitching last season. Further helping Verlander is that the game is in Minnesota, where it's supposed to be below 40 degrees, which isn't ideal weather for hitting.

Scherzer and Syndergaard should be popular, and rightfully so, but don't be afraid to pivot to Verlander in tournaments.
