DraftKings Daily Fantasy Golf Helper: WGC-Mexico Championship
With no cut and a small field for this week's WGC-Mexico Championship, we can get aggressive with our DraftKings lineups. These golfers are solid plays this week.

Daily fantasy golf requires a new approach for each and every event.

The course and field change week after week, making no two contests alike. That means you need to refine your approach for each PGA Tour event to try to find golfers who are primed to excel for your daily fantasy golf lineups.

Each week, we have a course primer, and our daily fantasy golf projections and lineup builder can help you get started, but these golfers stand out specifically on DraftKings for the WGC-Mexico Championship.

High-Priced Studs

Rory McIlroy (DraftKings Price: $11,500 | FanDuel Sportsbook Win Odds: +500) - Everything about McIlroy last week applies here as well. His ballstriking and finishing have been just about the best in the world for over a year, and while he faded down the stretch on Sunday that is more a product of Riviera's difficulty than McIlroy's form. His birdie on 18 made it yet another top 5 finish, and this despite losing 2.1 strokes putting on Sunday. He's finished inside the top 10 both times he's made the Mexico stop. Despite the two wins for Dustin Johnson ($11,000 | +600) in the past three years, McIlroy is the rightful favorite.

Jon Rahm ($10,600 | +1000) - Rahm could not quite get going at Riviera, but he still managed a T17 thanks to a hot putter. He lost strokes on approach last week, and in each of the last three times, he's finished an event with negative strokes gained on approach he's bounced back to gain at least four strokes the following event. Worldwide, he has just one finish outside the top 20 since June, and he ranks 4th on par 4s, 5th off the tee, 9th in birdies or better gained and strokes gained: par 5s and 15th on approach.

Mid-Priced Options

Xander Schauffele ($9,400 | +1800) - Schauffele battled his way to a T23 finish at Riviera despite not having his best stuff, and his proclivity at small, strong fields is one of the first lines of his bio these days. His wins in micro-fields at East Lake and Kapalua are enough evidence that he won't back down from the Rory's, Rahm's, and DJ's of the world, and he's done well in each of the WGC stops since turning pro. He's come away with top 20s in each of his two trips to Mexico, and he arrives at Chapultepec in great form once again. He ranks 3rd in strokes gained: par 5s, 4th in strokes gained: off the tee, 6th in strokes gained: par 5s, 13th in birdies or better gained, and 16th in strokes gained: approach.

Paul Casey ($8,700 | +3400) - For the second consecutive week, Casey was his typical ballstriking self for 54 holes and suffered an absolute collapse on the greens on Sunday. His final round 75 at Riviera was just lovely in comparison to his 81 at Pebble Beach the week before. Never one to be trusted with the short stick, Casey now has lost more than three strokes putting in the final round in three of his last four events -- he lost 3.1 strokes putting at the Genesis, 4.6 strokes at Pebble, and 4.2 strokes at Kapalua. The ballstriking has been just fine, and he gained strokes both off the tee and on approach in all four rounds last week. He is due for a swing in the right direction, and he's gained on the greens in all three visits to Chapultepec, finishing T3, T12, and T16.

Collin Morikawa ($8,500 | +3300) - Morikawa came out firing on Sunday with an eagle and two birdies on the first four holes to get within striking distance, but he shot 6-over par for the rest of the round including a disastrous five-putt on the par 5 11th. It was the second time this season he flubbed badly on the greens to fall well out of contention, having three-putted from four feet on the 72nd hole at Waialae to start the year. His consistency and cut-making ability have more attraction in full-field events, but he is still very much in play this week on a course where the best ballstrikers figure to contend.

Low-Priced Options

Sungjae Im ($7,900 | +5000) - After skipping Pebble and missing the cut on the number at Riviera, Im must feel as though he's barely played any professional golf this month. The Tour's reigning ironman is back this week and can rest assured he'll get four rounds of work. It's his Mexico debut, but Chapultepec isn't an acquired taste like some of the West Coast courses. He is 5th in birdies or better gained, 11th on par 4s, and 16th both off the tee and on par 5s. With native Mexican Abraham Ancer ($7,900 | +5000) at the same price point and in solid form himself, Im could go overlooked this week.

Corey Conners ($7,500 | +8000) - Conners has one of the best ballstriking profiles not just in this field but on the entire Tour. This week he ranks 2nd behind only McIlroy off the tee, and is a solid 11th on approach. He has trended in the wrong direction recently with a T45 at the Waste Management and a missed cut at Riviera after six straight top 20s, but the long term form and back to back weeks losing over three strokes on the greens should give some encouragement. Several golfers in this range (including our next two featured) will garner significant ownership, and Conners is a worthy pivot in this range.

Byeong-Hun An ($7,400 | +8000) - An has flashed some upside recently with four top-15 finishes in his last six starts, and in strong fields where ballstriking is at a premium we can expect An to be very attractive at this price. He ranks 15th on par 4s, 22nd in strokes gained: approach, 23rd in birdies or better gained, and 25th in strokes gained: off the tee.

Tyrrell Hatton ($7,400 | +8000) - With finishes of T19, T3, and T10 the last three years at Chapultepec, Hatton will draw attention immediately this week for the course history crew. He has had quite a spell since his last action, last playing in the European Tour finale in Dubai the week of Thanksgiving. His start prior to that event was a win at the Turkish Airlines Open on the heels of four straight top 20 finishes worldwide.

Bargain Basement

Sebastian Munoz ($6,800 | +15000) - Munoz should feast on the par 5s this week, as he ranks fifth in that category coming in. He is 15th in birdies or better gained, 24th in strokes gained: approach, and 27th in strokes gained: off the tee.

Jazz Janewattananond ($6,700 | +12000) - Jazz popped on most PGA Tour fan's radars last year at the PGA Championship, when even after a Sunday 77 he still managed a solid T14. He closed the year in terrific form overseas, winning back to back events on the Asian Tour before booking two more top 5s to start 2020. The PGA Tour is a different animal, but the 39th ranked player in the world showed he could hang with the elite at Bethpage Black.
