Southampton vs. Chelsea

Chelsea to win -135

Chelsea have been rolling recently and they are currently on a four-game winning streak that has brought them up to fourth place in the league table. The Blues have a 15.7 expected goal difference, which is the second-highest in the league, so they were due for a strong run of form to bring them up towards their rightful place in a top-four spot this season.

Southampton are going in the opposite direction, as they are on a six-game losing streak and are completely spiraling. The Saints are 15th in the league in expected goal difference at -7.1 for the season and they rank 13th in the table, so it is clear at this point they are an average team at best who are in dreadful form at the moment.

There is no doubt that Chelsea is the superior side in this matchup and they are coming into this game in much better form than their opponent. Chelsea should expect to win this game without much issue and to get them at almost even odds is a steal.

Burnley vs. West Brom

Burnley to win +105

West Brom are somehow ahead of Sheffield United in the standings but there is no doubt they are the worst team in the league this season. West Brom are 2W-7D-15L with a league-worst -36 goal difference and a league-worst expected goal difference of -25.8. They are 11.6 expected goals behind the second-worst team, Crystal Palace.

Burnley are not lighting the world on fire and their 7-6-11 record is only good enough for 15th in the league but they are 1-2-0 in their last 3 games, which shows a general uptick in performance. Burnley have either been even with or ahead in shots in all three of these matches, so their strong results are not simply good fortune. They are genuinely playing well at the moment.

West Brom are by far the worst team in the league and Burnley are competent, which is all they need to be to get three points this weekend. West Brom have no real chance to avoid relegation this season and they will likely continue to be a punching bag for the rest of the league.

West Ham vs. Tottenham

West Ham to win +160

West Ham are having a great season and are in fifth place at 12-6-6, which is good enough to be tied for the fourth and final Champions League spot, only trailing Chelsea on goal difference. The Hammers have been in good form as well, going 6-1-1 in their last 8 matches.

Tottenham have fallen off of late, going 1-0-4 in their last 5 games with their only win coming at home against last-place West Brom. Tottenham have dropped to ninth in the league for the year and their modest +0.4 expected goal difference indicates they are just about where they deserve to be in the table.

West Ham have been better than Tottenham this season and they are certainly in better form. This definitely should be a competitive game but West Ham deserves to get a slight edge.
