4 FanDuel Premier League Studs to Target for Matchweek 22

At home against Norwich City, Marcus Rashford offers massive upside on Saturday. Who else should you pay up for?

As is the case when playing any sport on FanDuel, it’s imperative to hit on high-priced studs, the players in which you’ve made the biggest investment. This is especially true with forwards in soccer. Not only are the top-end forwards expensive, they are the ones most likely to put the ball in the back of the net, and goals are often the difference between winning and losing in DFS.

This article will cover FanDuel's main slate, which begins Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EST and features six matches.

Matchweek 22
Saturday, January 11th
Brighton at Everton
Southampton at Leicester City
Norwich City at Manchester United
Burnley at Chelsea
Newcastle at Wolves
Liverpool at Tottenham

Chelsea and Manchester United are the slate's biggest favorites, per Soccer odd, each listed at -350 to win. After those two, it's Wolves (-230), Leicester (-195), Liverpool (-145) and Everton (-120), so we have a fairly comfortable favorite in all six matches.

Let’s take a look at some high-priced players -- all across the pitch -- who, despite costing a good chunk of change, are worth the investment.

James Maddison, MID, Leicester

FanDuel Price: $18

Maddison's stranglehold on corner and free-kick duties for one of the best sides in the league gives him an appealing floor/ceiling combination pretty much every time out, especially when Leicester are facing weaker opposition. That's definitely the case this week as the Foxes host Southampton, a foe they thrashed 9-0 earlier this year at the Saints' home ground.

Surely, we won't see that kind of scoreline again, but Leicester should control this match. The Foxes are only -195 favorites, the fourth-highest on the slate, and that line feels a little light. This is a Leicester side that has lost just four times in EPL play this year, with three of those coming at the hands of Liverpool (twice) and Manchester City. Since the disappointing 4-0 home defeat to the Reds, the Foxes have bounced back with a 2-1 away win at West Ham in which they fielded a weakened lineup and a 3-0 win at Newcastle, re-establishing themselves as one of the EPL's top teams.

Maddison's DFS output dropped big time versus Manchester City (11.9) and Liverpool (1.3), but he's offered a superb floor outside of his matches against those two titans, scoring at least 22 FanDuel points in eight of his previous nine starts (excluding the City and Liverpool games). He's a chance-creating machine and is a great stacking partner with any other Foxes attacker.

Marcus Rashford, FWD, Manchester United

FanDuel Price: $22

Norwich City have been a DFS gift this campaign, with their open and attacking style leading to plenty of fantasy-friendly matches. The Canaries just can't cope defensively in the top flight as they've conceded 41 goals in 21 matches. They've surrendered at least two goals in every one of their league clashes against a traditional big-six club this season.

It's no surprise that Manchester United are massive -350 home favorites.

Rashford has a goal in three of his last six games, including two of the past three, and he takes penalties as well as free kicks -- raising both his floor and upside. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Rashford is -200 to score anytime in this match.

Rashford should see plenty of ownership, though there's a chance teammate Anthony Martial ($19), who is cheaper and in great form, is more popular. Stacking them is certainly an option if you can make the money work elsewhere, which shouldn't be super hard on this slate.

Tammy Abraham, FWD, Chelsea

FanDuel Price: $20

Chelsea are also -350 home favorites as they host Burnley. The Blues put four past Burnley when they met at Turf Moor earlier this campaign, and the Clarets haven't been all that good defensively this season, shipping 34 goals in 21 outings.

Abraham is -170 to score, per FanDuel Sportsbook, and while he's a bit too goal-dependent in DFS, this is a great spot for him to make the net bulge. Abraham has been a massive success this year, netting 12 goals with three assists. His goal-scoring form has dried up lately, with just one tally in his last six league matches, but Abraham is capable of a multi-goal effort with Chelsea in such a smash spot.

Raúl Jiménez, FWD, Wolves

FanDuel Price: $16

The pricing on Wolves' players just doesn't make a ton of sense this slate; they're too cheap pretty much across the board. Playing at home against Newcastle, Wolves are a hefty -230 favorite, and they could go a tad under-owned if the masses load up on Manchester United, Chelsea, and Leicester.

Jiménez should be fairly popular, though, given his form and oddly cheap price. He's dazzled this season with eight goals and six assists, and he's got a total of two goals and three assists across his last six matches. He can get a goal or set up a teammate, and he takes penalties. He's averaging 21.01 FanDuel points per game on the season, which isn't far off of the per-game clips for Abraham (21.56) and Rashford (22.50), who are significantly more expensive.

Oh, and the matchup is good, too, as the Magpies have allowed 21 goals in 10 away matches, including four recently at Old Trafford and two apiece on the road versus Villa and West Ham. Wolves make for an easy-to-afford stack, but even if you don't want to go heavy on them, Jiménez needs to be on your radar as a one-off play.
