FanDuel Women's World Cup Daily Fantasy Helper: Sunday 6/9/19

The World Cup is here, and FanDuel is offering daily fantasy contests. The Sunday main slate will start at 9:30 a.m. EST and include the final two matches of the day. It will not include the 7:30 a.m. clash between Australia and Italy.

FanDuel has altered its soccer format for the Women's World Cup for the multi-match offerings, and it's important to know how those changes impact things. The single-match slates, however, are the same format as usual.

Group Stage
Sunday, June 9
Brazil vs. Jamaica
England vs. Scotland

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Brazil and England are the favorites on Sunday, with Brazil a massive -1300 favorite. So, yeah. you're going to need some exposure to the Brazilians.

Let's look at some players across different price points that can shine on Sunday.

Forwards/Midfielders

Marta, Brazil ($24)

As we said in the intro, Brazil is a huge -1300 favorite, so you need plenty of exposure to them. Marta is one of the best players in the world and has scored the most goals (15) in Women's World Cup history. She has the salary to match her ability. Playing in possibly her last World Cup and still chasing her first major trophy with Brazil, Marta is going to be ready to roll versus Jamaica and should be on the ball plenty on Sunday.

Even though Brazil is in the midst of a 10-match losing streak, some of the poor form can be blamed on tactical experimentation by their manager as well as a tough schedule. Brazil is a colossal favorite, and Marta, their number-10, is a money play, though there are plenty of other appealing options if you can't stomach the slate-high salary.

Fran Kirby, England ($22)

For those seeking a balanced lineup, Kirby is a direct pivot off of Marta. You can play both, but that will require a little more of a stars-and-scrubs approach.

Kirby has thrived under Phil Neville's management, and the Lionesses rolled through qualification, putting home 29 goals in qualifying while shipping just one. England, winners of the 2019 SheBelieves Cup, are comfy -420 favorites versus Scotland and are in as good of form as anyone coming into this event.

Given Marta's name recognition, she may see more ownership than Kirby, but this is a ceiling spot for the English playmaker who usually operates as a number-10. Kirby had two goals and a whopping six assists in six qualifying matches, and she had three assists across three outings in the SheBelieves Cup.

Her upside is through the roof, her floor is dope and she may sneak under the radar a bit if the masses flock to Marta. All in all, Kirby ticks off a lot of boxes.

Andressa Alves ($14) and Geyse ($10), Brazil

Both Alves and Geyse are much cheaper ways to get exposure to Brazil's attack. In the 2019 SheBelieves Cup, the team's last competitive event, Alves was involved in both of Brazil's goals, scoring one and assisting the other. Geyse had a monster year for Benfica in Portugal's second flight, tallying 49 goals in 27 matches, though the competition she faced wasn't the best.

Any attacker on a team favored by this much offers a ton of DFS appeal, and it's pretty easy to stack either of these two -- or both of them -- alongside Marta if you want to load up on Brazil.

Khadija Shaw ($18) and Jody Brown ($12), Jamaica

These two aren't likely to see much ownership on a big underdog, but if Jamaica scores, there's a good chance one of them is involved. Brown just turned 17 and is a star high school player in Florida while Shaw plays her college ball at Tennessee and netted 19 goals in the qualifying cycle, the most of any player.

Jodie Taylor, England ($10)

Taylor is a key cog for England, and she dished out two assists in just 53 total minutes in the SheBelieves Cup. She finished World Cup qualification with two goals and one assist in four starts and two appearances as a sub.

As we laid out, England should east past Scotland -- the Lionesses beat Scotland, 6-0, at the last Euros -- and Taylor is under-priced if she starts in an attacking role, which isn't a lock since England is spoiled for choice.

Defenders

Lucy Bronze, England ($18)

Maybe the best right-back in the game, Bronze should be bombing forward against Scotland. Very few -- if any -- defenders in this World Cup can match Bronze's DFS upside. In qualification, she totaled two goals and three assists in seven starts, and she also offers nice clean-sheet odds in this one.

Nicola Docherty ($8) and Kirsty Smith ($8), Scotland

Docherty and Smith are expected to start in defense for Scotland. In a match in which the Scots may not see much of the ball, these two offer a high floor and should amass plenty of defensive actions. Plus, their minimum salaries will help you pack in the high-priced studs you want.

Goalie

Aline, Brazil ($8)

It'll be imperative to find out who Brazil is starting between the posts. If it's Aline instead of Bárbara ($18), Aline would be really tough to pass on given her minimum salary and overwhelming odds to get the win bonus. If it's Bárbara, it's a little easier to look elsewhere -- namely this next keeper -- due to the lofty salary.

Karen Bardsley, England ($16)

Bardsley is $2 cheaper than Bárbara, and while $2 may not seem like much, it could help you get all the attackers you want. As a reminder, England are -420 favorites over Scotland, and while that's a far cry from Brazil's -1300 line, Bardsley still has a great chance to get a win bonus.
