Premier League: 4 FanDuel Value Plays for Matchweek 3

Mark Noble may need to assume more offensive responsibility for West Ham this week. Which other low-cost players could put up big-time numbers on this weekend's main slate?

The main slate on FanDuel for Saturday's action in the Premier League is one match smaller than it was in the first two weeks. Despite the lower number of teams in action, there are less than 20 players priced at $8,000 or above. Value is available on the five-game slate.

Matchweek 3
Saturday, August 26th
Southampton at Huddersfield
Swansea City at Crystal Palace
Brighton at Watford
West Ham at Newcastle United
Leicester City at Manchester United

Scoring was down in Matchweek 2 compared to the opening week of the season, but last week's pick at striker found the net. Let's see where that value is this week.

Forward

Richarlison ($7,500 on FanDuel): The Watford winger went overlooked in all fantasy formats to begin the year, but has quickly put his name on everyone's radar. He recorded an assist off the bench in Matchweek 1, then scored last week in his first Premier League start. His quickness on the left edge has made him a threat.

Richarlison has been able to get into dangerous zones and leads the official Premier League's influence, creativity, and threat scale. The Brazilian tops all midfielders with 8 shots in the box. He scored 43.25 FanDuel points last week, which was aided by creating 4 chances. It helps that Watford have taken a more attacking approach under Marco Silva. They are joint second in the league with 5 goals scored.

Richarlison and Watford face Brighton, a team that has given up 4 goals while failing to score. They have also held less than 42% of possession thus far this season.

Honorable mention goes to Joselu, who made his debut with Newcastle last week. It is unclear if he will start this week against West Ham, but his price tag is just $5,000.

Midfielder

Mark Noble ($6,000): West Ham's Noble always has value because he leads the line on most dead ball situations. However, Noble will have to take on more offensive responsibility with the suspension to Marko Arnautovic and the uncertainty surrounding the injury to Manuel Lanzini.

Noble will still be defensively responsible. He has been credited for 6 tackles, 2 clearances, 2 blocks, and a single interception, and is averaging nearly 20 FanDuel points per match.

Noble did play 73 minutes in Carabao Cup action on Wednesday in a 2-0 West Ham win. He was deployed on the left side of the midfield in a slightly more offensive posture, and got an assist on the first tally from Diafra Sakho.

Defender

Christopher Schindler ($4,500): Huddersfield Town have been the surprise package of the Premier League season, scoring 4 goals and not allowing any. Schindler has been a key cog in the defense, recording 11 clearances against Newcastle. He also had a block, 5 tackles, and 5 interceptions.

Schindler's 24.3 FanDuel points per game is good for fourth among available defenders on the slate. However, his price is $3,000 less than the most expensive defender on the day.

Huddersfield will have a bigger test against a surprisingly offensive-minded Southampton squad. The Saints are second in the league in shots per game. They also lead the league in crosses, which will give Schindler a chance to win plenty of aerial duels on Saturday.

Goalkeeper

Heurelho Gomes ($4,500): The match up with Brighton is great for the Watford defense and keeper Gomes. His 13.3 FanDuel points per game is tied for fifth among keepers on the slate. He is priced with five other keepers at $4,500, $1,000 less than the top-priced option. West Ham's Joe Hart is the only keeper priced below Gomes and the pack at $4,500.

Brighton's lack of possession and inability to create chances increases Gomes' clean sheet potential. Brighton average just 5.5 shots per match. Odds makers have a shut out for Watford as two of the top three betting options.
