Trade opportunity: Drew Brees + Darren Sproles for Adrian Peterson + LeSean McCoy

11-team standard-scoring ESPN league. I already have Matt Ryan as QB, so I'd be comfortable dealing Brees out - since he's been the #1 points scorer thus far this year, he's a damned goldmine. I'm lacking RB depth (lost Cedric Benson, prob for the season), so I'm making an offer to deal Brees + Darren Sproles for Peterson and McCoy. Peterson has been solid (although perhaps with some capped upside vs. last year, given the risk of injury), and while McCoy has been rather disappointing, I think he'll start getting better as the season goes on. I'm a giants fan and hate McCoy more than any other NFL player other than Tom Brady, but I guess I'll have to suck it up and stick him in my lineup. Do you think this trade makes sense?

I would try to keep brees, but if that's what you have to do to get some depth I say go for it. I would try and trade ryan before brees. Peterson is a good running back. He saved my ass in week 1. In your case desperate times call for desperate measures. Do it so you can get some sleep at night knowing you have a few solid performers instead of a couple goldmine players

I agree with C Fino -- try swapping out Ryan for Brees. As they say, the Saints D always keeps the opposing team in the game so I think Brees is going to have to put up monstrous performances just to try to win.
